Pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas are rare malformations often associated with Rendu-Osler-Weber disease. Morbidity and mortality are significant and arise from hemorrhagic and neurological complications. The technique of choice for diagnosis is computed axial tomography and embolization is the treatment of choice. We present the case of a 75-year-old woman with Rendu-Osler-Weber syndrome and pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas, in which percutaneous embolization was performed. Finally, the patient died of a stroke due to probable paradoxical embolism.
