A case study is presented of a 23-year-old woman with a painful mass, located in the left rib cage, during the past 3 months. lts histopathological and lnmunohistochemistry were conclusive of an Askin tumor, which typica/ly affects the thoracic wa/1 and pertains to the peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors.
The classification of the neurogenic tumors in the thorax wi/1 be revised, this including clinical behavior, diagnostic methods, histopathological characterisics and the treatment of Askin tumors.
