The principal objective is to identify and describe histopathological changes in the lung, after the inhalation of Boxer-type adhesive substances.
Materials and methods: One hundred experimental mice were used and distributed in four groups as follows: Group A: 10 mice used as control group. Group B: 30 mice exposed to cigarette smoke during one hour daily. Group C: 30 animals exposed to 10 cc of Boxer one hour daily, and Group D: 30 mice exposed to inhalation of l0 cc of Boxer permanently; all animals were periodically killed throughout the 8 months of exposition.Lungs macro and microscopic changes were studied; additionally, BAL was used.
Statistical analysis: Associations between variables were determined using chi-square method, with a 5% statistic significance level.
Results: Hyperplasia of the bronchiolar wall epithelium was found in 88% of the animals, lymphocytic bronchiolitis in 71% and perivascular lymphocytic inflammation in 36.1%. All were statistically significant. A relation between severity of changes, time and dose of exposition was found.
