    Los vasodilatadores pulmonares actualmente son fármacos empleados en el tratamiento de pacientes con hipertensión arterial pulmonar, los cuales se han introducido en los últimos años y muchos de ellos ya están disponibles en Colombia para su uso. Sin embargo, el advenimiento de estas terapias amerita un conocimiento más profundo de sus acciones, potenciales interacciones, mecanismos de acción y efectos adversos, así como de los beneficios demostrados en los diversos estudios clínicos que permiten que el médico haga una selección más adecuada para cada individuo que padece esta enfermedad según su grupo, comorbilidades y clase funcional, al igual que para educar tanto al médico como al paciente acerca del reconocimiento de sus potenciales eventos adversos.
