The sudden increase in alveolar pressure is a frequent cause of pneumomediastinum, but other reasons could lead to it, such as airway or esophagus trauma. The pneumomediastinum which has been produced after dental procedures is exceedingly rare and deserves special attention by dentists and medical personnel to get its recognition and handling.
