INTRODUCTION: The first public sector anticoagulation clinic in the City of Bogota is presented. It is part of the District Health Network attached to the integrated Central-Eastern Health Services Subnet of the Bogota Health Secretariat.

METHODOLOGY: Retrospective descriptive study showing the results of anticoagulant therapy with warfarin, low-molecular-weight heparins and new direct inhibitor anticoagulants. Adherence, adverse effects and complications with this therapy, time in therapeutic range and other findings from the retrospective analysis of the patients studied, which are very similar to those reported in the literature by other anticoagulation clinics, are also described.

CONCLUSIONS: The importance of setting up these clinics to ensure optimal management of patients requiring anticoagulation is made evident..
