Cryptococcal infection is generally diagnosed in individuals with some degree of immunosuppression who present with central nervous system involvement. However, this germ is also capable of infecting immunocompetent hosts. This article describes the case of a previously healthy female patients who developed pulmonary cryptococcosis, and carries out a brief review of the epidemiology, clinical presentation, radiological findings, diagnosis and treatment of this uncommon (or maybe underdiagnosed) condition.
