Pulmonary venous thrombosis (PVT), after lung transplantation is a rare and serious complication, in most occasions the patient dies when PVT occurs. Hypoxemia, severe pulmonary edema and hemodynamic instability in the early postoperative period were comun, with changes in chest-X-ray.
Of 170 lung transplants performed at the Vall d'Hebrón Hospital from August 1990 to November 2000, 3 (1.5%) cases of PVT were diagnosed, in spite of early clinical suspiction and respiratory and hemodinamic support, all patients died.
